Farewell

It’s a bittersweet Easter this year. One of my closest friends lost her niece. Her text said, “…has gone to rest” and I didn’t believe it at first. Because her niece was 27 years old. Who dies suddenly at 27? If you knew Georgina, you knew her giant appetite for life, her zeal…I mean she would shine brightly in any room into which she walked. And we walked into many a dancehall together as her sister, Val, and her, along with my friend Gail introduced me to Afrobeat nights in Kenya. I watched her dance with fervor, talk loudly and boisterously, laugh often and deeply. And I missed her. I cannot believe she is gone. I said a prayer for her today at Mass and I hope she rests in peace. What a beautiful soul.

Farewell, Georgina.

Farewell, Georgina.
